Program Intern

Type: Volunteer
Duties and Responsibilities The Intern will be primarily involved in assisting staff with the execution of the Expressway Partnership Program and also some project work related to the Tree Planting Program. Typical activities will include data gathering, social media messaging, grant writing, graphic design, research, and drafting supporting documentation for a various types of proposals. The Intern will also assist staff with various fundraising events, such as the Chicago Gateway Green’s signature gala event, Green Tie Ball and signature gaming event, Gaming for Green. Reporting The Intern will report to the Executive Director and work in close conjunction with the Administration and Retention Manager and the Landscape Operations Manager. Terms The Intern should be able to work at least 15-30 hours per week from the Chicago Gateway Green office. Qualifications and Experience o Working experience with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Social Media Applications. o Excellent attention to detail. o Well-organized. o Strong verbal and written communication skills. o Interest in urban planning and sustainability issues. o Willing to take initiative on projects and suggest innovative solutions. o Knowledge of landscape design is a bonus. Chicago Gateway Green’s Internship Program offers students an opportunity to learn about urban greening and beautification efforts in the City of Chicago, will provide an in-depth view of how non-profit organizations operate, and satisfy course credit in applicable cases.
