Mission Statement: Charity4LIFE’s mission is to support and protect “street kids” and empower them to reach their full potential by directly funding grassroots NGO programs in third world countries. We encourage humanitarian efforts and provide social advocacy through weekend warrior activism. Who is “The Street Kid”? On the Street: Children on the street earn their living or beg for money on the street and return home at night. They maintain contact with their families. Oftentimes they are inadequately protected, supervised or directed by responsible adults. Of the Street: Children of the street are homeless children who live and sleep on the streets in urban areas. They are totally on their own, living with other street children or homeless adult people. Some children of the street may have been abandoned and rejected by their families while others have left their families due to prevailing circumstances. A child who is forced to live on the street lacks the parental care, affection, education and opportunities for healthy growth and development and is forced to fight a daily struggle for survival. Charity4LIFE is a 501c3 Chicago Based Non Profit devoted to protecting and giving street children direct access to their basic human rights to a peaceful childhood. Weekend Warrior Activism The Movement: Weekend Warrior Activism* – A style of humanitarian based around the 40 hour work week that engages direct action in supporting social causes. The Weekend Warrior Activist: A humanitarian who works full time and does what they can in their spare time by tapping into their own skill sets and interests to make a difference in the lives of others. How We Do it: Research - The C4L team researches grassroots NGO’s located in areas with the highest demographics of “street kids”. Investigate - Once we find an NGO that fits C4L’s values, we travel to the country on short 3-5 day weekend warrior activism trips. On these trips we investigate the organization’s programs, day to day operations, budget and areas of need. Commit - If the organizations values match those of C4L, we commit to funding one specific program of theirs for the year. We continue to build our relationship with the organization through frequent visits with the staff and the children they support. Engage - C4L provides social awareness on the conditions of the “street kid” in the areas we support by fundraising through various Chicago based networking events and promoting our efforts through media outlets, photography and journalism.
