Urban Initiatives is a health and education soccer program, serving over 480 Chicago Public School students in the 1st through 4th grades. Urban Initiatives was formed in 2003 for the purpose of actively engaging children from under-served communities in extracurricular activities within a safe and structured environment. Our program promotes character-building values such as cooperation, commitment, teamwork and self-respect. Schools currently participating in our program have seen a boost in student accountability, academic engagement and health awareness. Our Mission is to work with schools, teachers, and parents to boost the physical fitness, health education, academic performance, and character development of children from Chicago's underserved communities by actively engaging them in safe and structured extracurricular activities through soccer programs, field trips, and cultural outings.
